Have You Lost Use of a Body Part After an On-the-Job Injury in Virginia? Talk to an Attorney
Your workers' compensation benefits may include compensation for loss of use of a body part or function, including one of the following:
- Arm
- Leg
- Finger
- Hand
- Foot
- Toe
- Sight (based on uncorrected vision)
- Hearing (based on unaided hearing after the injury)
Compensation for Loss of Use of Body Part
With the exception of the back and neck, each body part which you are permanently unable to use properly after a workplace injury carries a dollar value that depends on your weekly benefits. Once the percentage of loss of use of a body part has been determined, and you have reached maximum medical improvement, you may be entitled to the loss of use of one or more body parts by the entry of an award for Permanent Partial Disability (PPD) benefits. Loss of 100 percent use of one arm is valued at 200 weeks of benefits. Loss of 100 percent use of a leg is valued at 175 weeks of benefits. To determine what you would be entitled to, you need a doctor to rate the percentage loss of use of the body part, and I can assist you in finding a doctor that will give you a fair rating.
